║ GT-HELP ║ Modem Configuration Library
╚═════════╩════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
The modem configuration library contains suggested parameters for
various modems, the files for which may have come from a variety of
sources, including :
a) Those which were supplied with GT-HELP.
b) Those which were created by other GT sysops.
c) Those which you created yourself.
GT-help allows you to select a modem from the library and :
a) Display or edit it.
b) Install its parameters into GT.CNF.
┌────────────────────────────┐
│ About these configurations │
└────────────────────────────┘
Please treat all entries in the modem library as suggestions only.
a) You may have reasons for wanting to operate the modem in a
different manner to that suggested here.
b) You may have a marginally different modem (ROM revisions, etc) to
that of the author of the original configuration.
The configurations originally supplied with the library are reasonably
well documented to assist you as much as possible in understanding the
suggested configuration.
┌─────────────────────────────────┐
│ Editing existing configurations │
└─────────────────────────────────┘
All the entries are editable by yourself, but bear in mind that :
a) Lines which begin in column 1 will get copied into GT.CNF
b) Lines which are indented will be treated as comments and ignored
when GT-Help copies the configuration into GT.CNF.
┌──────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ Adding configurations from other sources │
└──────────────────────────────────────────┘
Additional modem configurations should arrive as files with a .MDM
suffix. The first 8 characters will hopefully have been chosen in a
way that allows you to recognise the modem it represents - though a
more verbose description should appear when you select it.
It is only necessary to place the new file in the GTH subdirectory
of your GTPATH in order for GT-Help to recognise its presence.
